Hurricane Danielle Path

FORT MYERS: Hurricane Danielle is in the middle of the Atlantic moving west-northwestward near 18 mph, but is expected to slow down and take a turn to the northwest over the next couple of days.
After some weakening yesterday, Danielle is now back to Category 1 hurricane strength with little change in that strength expected Wednesday and some strengthening possible Thursday.
There is another area of low pressure that we are tracking called 96L right now, located on the other side of the Atlantic.
There is a large area of cloudiness and showers associated with it.
The environmental conditions remain conducive for the formation of a tropical depression within the next couple of days.

There is a high, 90 percent chance of development in the next 48 hours as it continues to move west-northwestward near 15 mph.
When this system does form, it will get the name Earl.
Right now, models are still taking this one on a path similar to that of Danielle.
Earl's path may be slightly west of Danielle's, but models are keeping it well away from having any threat on Southwest Florida.
In the long range forecast, it looks like the Atlantic basin will continue to produce storms through the beginning of September.
