Garmin Nuvi Recall

Garmin, an electronics manufacturer headquartered in Kansas, announced today that it would recall 1.25 million Nuvi GPS units, 796,000 of which were sold in the US. According to Garmin, the affected Nuvi units use batteries – built by an unspecified third-party manufacturer – that could cause the device to overheat and possibly even catch on fire.

Only a select range of Garmin devices are affected. They include Nuvi units bearing the model numbers 200W, 250W, 260W, 7xx and 7xxT – xx in this case being two digits. Garmin has set up a site where you can check whether your Nuvi device fits the bill; US and Canadian customers can also contact Garmin at 866-957-1981.

Hurricane Danielle Path

FORT MYERS: Hurricane Danielle is in the middle of the Atlantic moving west-northwestward near 18 mph, but is expected to slow down and take a turn to the northwest over the next couple of days.
After some weakening yesterday, Danielle is now back to Category 1 hurricane strength with little change in that strength expected Wednesday and some strengthening possible Thursday.
There is another area of low pressure that we are tracking called 96L right now, located on the other side of the Atlantic.
There is a large area of cloudiness and showers associated with it.
The environmental conditions remain conducive for the formation of a tropical depression within the next couple of days.

Tiger Woods's Divorce

According to Tiger Woods’ now ex-wife Elin Nordegren this will be her first and last time talking of this so you better hear to her before she gets her golf club:

“I've been done the stages of unbelief and shock, to angriness and ultimately brokenheartedness over the loss of the family I so badly wanted for my children.  I also feel stronger than I ever have. I have confidence in my beliefs, my decisions and myself.  My immediate plan is for the kids and me to continue to adjust to our new situation. I am going to keep taking classes, but my main focus is to try to give myself time to heal.”

A couple hundred million will be a nice start to the healing…….

Philippine Hostage End With Police Storm The Bus

A Spectacular hostage military blockade in the Philippine capital involving a busload of Hong Kong tourists ended after 12 hours on Monday with several captives walking free but the fate of 11 others obscure.
The hitman, a dissatisfied ex-policeman, was killed in the final moments of the crisis in the center of capital of the Philippines Manila, which was played out alive on television screens around the world.
Four of the tourists emerged from the autobus alive, rounded by police force and emergency fomites, but there were concerns for the lives of the 11 others who didn't get off the vehicle at once afterward.

Some of the hostages were seen being pulled out of the bus motionless, but it was unclear whether they were unconscious or dead.
The body of the gunman, a highly decorated former police inspector who hijacked the bus in a desperate bid to get his job back, was seen slumped out of the main door of the vehicle.
Multiple gunshots were heard moments before heavily-armed police moved in on the bus near a park in Manila's historic tourist district just after nightfall.

PSN - PlayStation Network Down in US

For those people looking to access the Playstation Network this morning, it is down in the United States. There is no time table for when it will be back up, but these maintenance times usually are not very long. Expect it to be back within an hour or two at most.
The Playstation Network just recently had a video content update on Friday, and as far as we can tell, there was no scheduled maintenance for today. However, things do come up, and unscheduled maintenance is necessary from time to time.

Mosque debate divides Democrats

NEW YORK – As tender congressional Democrats consider how to answer to President Barack Obama's arguments on Muslims' right to build a mosque close to ground zero, those in New York City and closest to the controversy are staying soundless or scrambling away.
Democrats assure both Senate seats and twenty-seven of the state's twenty-nine Congressional districts, but analysts think as many as 8 House Democrats in the state may be headed up to defeat this year. Republicans, desiring to ease Democrats' grip on the state, insist the economic system continues the major campaign issue but allege the mosque flap forced out move electors their way.
By eastern Long Island to more rural upstate fields, House Democrats have been contradicting the construction of a $100 million Islamic center two blocks from the World Trade Center site. More 2,700 people died there on Sept. 11, 2001, at the hands of Islamic terrorists, and the wound remains fresh for many New Yorkers who are still traumatized by the attacks or who lost loved ones that day.
Developers of the planned Islamic center known as Park51 have plans for a 13-story structure featuring a pool, gym and 500-seat auditorium, as well as a mosque and Sept. 11 memorial. It's a project of the Cordoba Initiative, a New York-based nonprofit group that promotes greater understanding between Islam and the West.

Dr. Laura's N-Word Rant

After one week of great controversy, the news about radio host Dr. Laura Schlessinger still spreading controversy. This news become number one hot topics in Google Trends for full week.
This started last week, when the good doctor used the N-word 11 times in an exchange with a caller. In response to complaints — and likely management and advertiser concerns — she has said that she’ll stop her radio show at the end of the year.
Dr. Laura did not use the N-word to describe a particular person or as a smear against African- Americans. She used the word matter-of-factly in describing — accurately, by the way — how often the word is used by African-American comedians. “Turn on HBO, listen to a black comic, and all you hear is (the N-word),” she said, adding, “I don’t get it. If anybody without enough melanin says it, it’s a horrible thing; but when black people say it, it’s affectionate. It’s very confusing.”

Google Search Suggests Controversy

If we type a word to search in most popular search engine, Google, it will offers a suggestion to our search by completion several searches by other users that are similar to the one you're typing. But now this trigger a controversy around internet users. Here are the news :
"I am extremely terrified of Chinese people," "Why wont my parakeet eat my diarrhea," and "Why can't I own a Canadian?" are just three of the countless strange and surprising "Google suggests" to be found.

The first, "I am extremely terrified of Chinese people," was among the top 10 trending topics on Google trends late Monday evening.

Wondering why? If you try typing "I am e.." into Google, you'll see Google try to automatically complete the search term, and few odd suggestions pop up, including "I am extremely terrified of Chinese people."

What's going on here?

It has to do with a Google feature that's designed to expedite searches.

How does Google Suggest work, and where do those "suggestions" come from? The short answer is this: the suggestions are taken from searches previous users all over the world have done on Google, as well as searches you've done, sites in Google's search index, and ads on Google. As one HuffPostTech reader notes, they're suggestions based off of searches by people just like you
